PRE-FESTIVAL CONCERT!

On July 1st at 7 p.m. in the Piazza of San Savino (Comune di Magione) overlooking Lake Trasimeno, a free concert featuring young Canadian and Italian musicians will be held to celebrate Canada Day as well as the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy. Artists performing will be Gianluca Campo (flute) and Marta Marinelli (harp) from Italy; Kerson Leong (violin), Stanley Leong (cello), and Annie Yim (piano) from Canada.

JOE DAMIANI TRIO Sings Modugno

Musician, drummer and multi-instrumentalist in the soul Joe Damiani graduated at the Consertvatory of Parma where he studies percussions. He works in some of the big lyrics orchestra and he takes part in some operas. In this time, also, he studies in depth others instruments as piano, vibraphone, marimba and the singing. In the next years he goes in Holland where he records two albums with the duo Alex and Joe with the artist Al Noiret (Dureco Benelux). In Italy Joe collaborates as drummer and percussionist with artists as Mauro Pagani, Cristiano De Andrè, Paola Turci, Gianluca Grignani, Massimo Ranieri, Roberto Vecchioni, Morgan, Giuliano Sangiorgi (Negramaro), Eugenio Finardi, Cristina Donà and others. In January 2000, at last, Joe works as author, musician, and performer of his songs. He publishes his first song “Vivo nella notte” (Azzurra Music). In the summer 2001 Joe publishes his second song “Parole Bellissime” (Azzurra Music) included in his first album “Senza Fiato” “a mediation between the rhythm of rock and a new melody of Italian’s pop”. The second album “Linea di confine” (D’Autore) is publish in May 2003 and it’s completely arranged from Joe. In July 2004 is published the song and the video of “Il Pirata” (JD Music). Of 2007, however, “Un Buon Motivo” (JD/SELF) from which it extracts different songs: “Tu sei Matto” (JD/SELF), “Ma succede” (JD/SELF), "Dillo adesso" (JD/SELF), and in May 2009 “Stelle al Sole” (also translated in Soles Immensos, a Spanish version). In 2008 Joe wins Premio Piazza Erbe (in Verona) where, in memory of the 50th anniversary of “Volare”, Joe plays in the key etno/folk some famous songs of Domenico Modugno. At the end of May 2009, Joe is acclaimed by the public at the Italian Embassy of Madrid where he proposed his interpretation etno/folk of Modugno and pieces from his 3 albums. In 2010 is published his new song: “Piove” better know as “ciao ciao bambina”. This song, for the unmistakable Joe’s voice, is a revisiting in key etno/folk and Reggae and anticipated the album: “Joe Damiani Trio Canta Modugno (vol. I)”, a very beautiful tribute to Domenico Modugno in which Damiani puts together his different souls Rock, Pop, Etno Folk in a raising of rhythms and feelings.

THE BATTLE OF LAKE TRASIMENO RE-ENACTMENT ON 18TH AND 19TH OF JUNE

Tuoro sul Trasimeno (Pg). On June 18th and 19th the Lido di Tuoro will be the setting for a re-enactment of the great Battle of Lake Trasimene, during which the Carthaginian forces under Hannibal inflicted one of the most crushing defeats ever suffered by the Roman army.

Dal 22 luglio al 1 agosto 2011 torna l'appuntamento con le note vibranti di Trasimeno Blues. I migliori interpreti nazionali e internazionali del blues si esibiscono dall'alba al tramonto negli oltre 20 palcoscenici del festival, da Castiglione del Lago a Città della Pieve.

E come ogni anno Trasimeno Blues non è solo musica: concorsi, mostre fotografiche e altri eventi collaterali, primo fra tutti il Trasimeno Blues Cartoon Fest, nella bella cornice di Palazzo della Corgna a Città della Pieve.


Il Blues Made in Umbria


Anche quest’anno Trasimeno Blues dedica un ampio spazio al meglio del Blues umbro ospitando nuove interessanti novità e realtà già affermate. Torna con un nuovo progetto lo straordinario chitarrista di Gubbio Maurizio Pugno, reduce dal successo internazionale a seguito dell’uscita dei sue due primi album da solista. Giovedì 28 luglio Pugno sarà protagonista del concerto in prima serata a Piegaro con la sua Large Band (che vede al suo interno anche altri bravi musicisti umbri), per presentare il DVD “Maurizio Pugno Large Band - Made In Italy”, realizzato insieme ad entrambi i cantanti e armonicisti ex - Roomful Of Blues (Mark DuFresne e Sugar Ray Norcia). Maurizio Pugno, chitarrista umbro sulle scene da più di 25 anni, ormai al servizio dei migliori musicisti Blues americani, sarà affiancato per questo tour europeo dalla cantante californiana ed autrice Mz. Dee, cresciuta musicalmente nella East Bay di San Francisco tra Blues, Funk, R&B, Jazz e con salde radici nel Gospel (sua madre è una delle migliori organiste e arrangiatrici Gospel della California).

Nei pomeriggi del 31 luglio a Città della Pieve e del 29 luglio a Passignano saranno invece gli scatenati musicisti della P-Funking Band a portare il loro nuovo progetto musicale per le strade dei centri storici. La street band di Perugia è infatti alle prese con l’uscita del primo album che vede tra l’altro alcuni ospiti prestigiosi come il trombettista Andrea Giuffredi e che sarà presentato in occasione dell’Anteprima di Trasimeno Blues il prossimo 20 maggio alla Darsena Bar Caffè di Castiglione del Lago. Dal Funky al Blues con la Bluesindrome, giovedì 21 luglio a La Darsena, altra band umbra che quest’anno presenterà al pubblico di Trasimeno Blues un nuovo album di fresca pubblicazione dal titolo “Live”, un lavoro che conferma l’ulteriore crescita artistica di questo ensemble dal sound fresco e autentico. Domenica 31 luglio sempre alla Darsena Bar Caffè sarà la volta di una nuova interessante giovane band dell’alta Umbria, i Da Hand in the Middle, recenti vincitori delle finali regionali di Italia Wave con il loro originale stile che rappresenta l’incontro tra la tradizione melodico - corale umbra ed il jungle-blues delle grandi pianure americane. Lo scorso settembre hanno autoprodotto il loro primo disco “Shiver Animals Sensations”, registrato presso gli studi di Rokkaforte di Castiglione del Lago.

MUSICAL WALK - the delightful musical walk organised by the Trasimeno Music School

This Sunday (8 May) there will be the delightful musical walk organised by the Trasimeno Music School in and around Castel Rigone. You will stroll amongst churches, hamlets, olive groves and vineyards, whilst being serenaded by groups of students from the Music School.
The walk starts at 4 pm in the main piazza. Highly recommended!

TrasiTrek is centred round Castiglione del Lago airport, and is devoted to rambling/trotting/pedalling, etc. around Lake Trasimeno, on foot, on bikes, and on horseback and includes all sorts of events, such as displays of historical horse carriages, oxen and carts and cow herders from the Maremma (butteri).

Fontanaro has a new friendship: the Trasimeno Music Festival 2011.

The Trasimeno Music Festival Association was formed by the happy fruition of
two beautiful but originally distant things: on one side the
world-renowned Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt, and on the other, the
Umbrian town of Magione, on the shores of Lake Trasimeno. When Angela,
regarded as one of the greatest living interpreters of the music of J.S.
Bach, first discovered this area of great natural beauty, she fell in love
with it immediately. Then, with her unique blend of charm and passion, she
decided to bring her music to the region in the form of an annual music
festival. For a week each summer, she presents concerts in the magical
atmosphere of the Castle of the Knights of Malta in Magione using
international artists of the highest level. To accomplish this, and thanks
to the interest and passion of local friends and collaborators, the
Trasimeno Music Festival Association was formed.

This summer festival, which has grown to also include concerts in Perugia
and Gubbio, will be presented for the seventh time in 2011.

With this happy union between local and international elements, the life of
the Association is diverging into a more widespread activity, with
lecture-demonstrations held in schools, discussions with authors who write
about music in their work, masterclasses with young pianists, and Friends
Associations being formed around the world - a reflection of the worldwide
attention that characterizes both Angela Hewitt and the festival.

On this website, to which we welcome you, you may find all the information
on the initiatives of the Trasimeno Music Festival Association. We look

On July 1st at 7 p.m. in the Piazza of San Savino (Comune di Magione) overlooking Lake Trasimeno, a free concert featuring young Canadian and Italian musicians will be held to celebrate Canada Day as well as the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy. Further details to be announced.

Il Natale si tinge di una calda atmosfera che riecheggia nella tranquilla profondità delle acque del lago Trasimeno. Da Natale all’Epifania, come un unico respiro musicale, le sonorità nere afro-americane, le migliori voci, le migliori corali, si esibiscono nei caratteristici borghi dell’Umbria, per annunciare in questi luoghi ricchi di atmosfera, con l’emozionalità del proprio canto, la Natività. Il Festival si snoda esibendosi nei teatri e nelle chiese dei suggestivi borghi umbri, tra cultura e tradizione, spiritualità e musica. Dopo la tradizionale anteprima dell’8 dicembre a Paciano, la kermesse prosegue dal 25 dicembre, cuore della notte di Natale, come una lunga scia di emozioni fino al 6 gennaio. Evento speciale il 30 dicembre ad Ellera (Perugia), all’Auditorium Vannucci dell’Hotel Quattrotorri, con i prestigiosi Atlanta Gospel Choir. La notte di capodanno esplosione di musica e di festa all’Auditorium Urbani di Passignano sul Trasimeno con The Funk & Soul Night Explosion in compagnia della Funky Diva Martha High e Sir Waldo Weathers (entrambi dalla band di James Brown) e la Morblus Band. La lunga notte di capodanno avrà inizio con le Soul Dinner, eventi speciali in alcuni ristoranti di Passignano dove le cene saranno accompagnate dai concerti di Veronica & The Red Wine Serenaders all’ “Osteria del Carro” e del Vincent Wiliams Trio al Ristorante “4 Camini”. Altra novità di quest’anno è il concerto Gospel nel pomeriggio del 1° Gennaio a Castiglione del Lago (Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena) con la corale dei F.O.C.U.S. Sound Of Victory ad augurare a tutti un meraviglioso 2011.

SOUL CHRISTMAS - UMBRIA GOSPEL FESTIVAL

When is Christmas time in Umbria we can hear the emotional notes of the music that comes from the soul: Gospel. From Christmas Day to Epiphany, as a one musical breath, Afro-American sonorities give life to Soul Christmas - Umbria Gospel Festival, a unique music event for the participation of great artists and the suggestion of the locations. The best voices and the best Gospel choirs perform in the characteristic villages of the Umbria region announcing the Nativity with their emotional singing. In fact more than any other type of music, Gospel expresses the spiritual values of Christmas. The itinerant Soul Christmas festival presents Gospel music in the theatres and churches of the Umbrian suggestive towns offering culture and tradition, spirituality and music. Festival starts with a premiere on December 8^th in Paciano town hosting the traditional Gospel and Spiritual concert and then it will perform with a long wake of emotions from December 25^th to January 6^th. A special event will take place on December 30^th when Soul Christmas arrives at Auditorium Vannucci of the Hotel “Quattrotorri” (Ellera, Perugia) hosting the prestigious choir Atlanta Gospel Choir, founded and directed by the amazing singer and pianist Robin Brown. For the new year’s party an amazing music event will be in Passignano sul Trasimeno on December 31^st at Auditorium Urbani: The Funk & Soul Night Explosion dancing with the live concert of the Funky Diva Martha High & Sir Waldo Weathers (both from the original James Brown Band) and one of the best funky Italian band, the Morblus Band leaded by the great guitarist Roberto Morbioli. The long night of the New Year’s Day will starts with the Soul Dinner, special music events that will take place in some restaurants in Passignano where during the dinners will perform Veronica & The Red Wine Serenaders at “Osteria del Carro” and the Vincent Wiliams Trio at “4 Camini” restaurant. Another surprise of this edition is the Gospel concert in the afternoon of January 1^st in Castiglione del Lago (Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta) with F.O.C.U.S. Sound Of Victory choir to wish a marvellous 2011 to everybody.
